Comparing Spiritual Fruits and Gifts.
"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts,..." (1Co 14:1).
Many of us do not know the difference between spiritual fruits and gifts. Almost everyone (believers) seem to believe in reverse, that fruits are free and should be desired, while gifts are earned and should be followed after.
"And when the woman SAW that the (wrong) tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree TO BE DESIRED TO MAKE ONE WISE, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." (Gen 3:6).
Adam and Eve failed this test and lost their authourity on earth to the tempter, the devil. Without the right kind of understanding, it's very easy for our knowledge to be twisted into "seeing in reverse". Every born again believer must follow after the Spirit of God in order to constantly produce fruits to give for the healing of the nations. Without fruits we are compared to a tree that is worthy to be chopped down and burn in the fire [Read John 15:1-6]. It is the fruits we produce that will heal the world around us.
Gifts attracts and quickly open and draw the hearts of the unbelieving into the fold, while fruits keep them whole within the fold. Charity is a wonderful fruit full of divine power to heal broken hearts and bind up wounds, and it never fails. Gal 5:22-23 list the 9 fruits of the Spirit that we are capable of producing in order to bond together within the Church, and also touch the outside world. Therefore, producing the fruit of the Spirit should be our primary goal, and gifts secondary. Fruits are eternal, while gifts are temporal. Whatever fruit we produce has tremendous tendency to multiply because of the seeds that is replanted.
Note: WE JUST DON'T DESIRE THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, WE MUST FOLLOW AFTER IT TO PRODUCE IT IN OUR LIVES AND OTHERS. GIFTS ARE TO BE DESIRED FOR THEY ARE FREE. OUR WALK WITH THE SPIRIT MUST BE EARNED, AND THE VERY REASON WE HAVE A STRONG DESIRE FOR THE FREE GIFTS/TOOLS.
